Trafford Council’s Labour leader has delivered a digital master plan that will revolutionise how the authority interacts with the public, businesses and its workforce.
The four-year strategy is focused on providing easy to use and accessible digital services coupled with a high-quality experience.
The move towards providing more streamlined digital services can help achieve efficiencies and redirect resources to those who are most in need or who may require further help.
Members of the Executive Committee noted the report on Monday.
Speaking to the paper, Cllr Tom Ross, said the authority had been developing the new strategy for some time, and applauded the hard work undertaken to get it to this stage.
He added: “Fundamentally, we are looking at innovative ways in which we can adequately support our residents with the digital skills and equipment they need. And we are also realistic about what we can achieve with this strategy in the medium to long-term.
“As an organisation, we have invested heavily within our digital sector – and will no doubt reap the rewards by providing the necessary tools and equipment that will ultimately support our residents, businesses and workforce.
“For me, it is about realising what we can do to improve all our platforms and infrastructure so that we can maximise our digital interactions both internally and externally.”
The council’s four priorities include:
- Easy to use and accessible website and digital services.
- Digitally skilled residents and a thriving digital economy.
- Modern digital tools and training for the workforce.
- Secure, reliable, and resilient digital infrastructure and business applications.
- Effective IT & Digital support, maintenance, and project delivery.
Deputy Leader, Cllr Cath Hynes, Executive Member for Culture, Sport and Heritage, also welcomed the document and spoke about its importance.
Cllr Hynes added: “It is vitally important as an organisation that we are as inclusive as we can be.
“And I welcome the fact we have the vision to deliver modern digital tools, so our residents, businesses and workforce can thrive.
“It is absolutely critical we deliver the services our residents need as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
