Connor Rand MP
Connor Rand MP

Connor has been the Member of Parliament for Altrincham and Sale West since 2024, when he gained the seat from the Conservatives. He lives in Timperley with his partner Catherine, who is a local Primary School teacher, and their two children, who were both born at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Connor worked on a national campaign against the abuse, threats and violence shopworkers receive in retail stores, calling for new legislation to protect shopworkers, which has since been enacted by this Labour Government. He has previously been involved in efforts to get more students and young people engaged in politics.
Since being elected, Connor has delivered significant investment into the constituency, including funding for a new Government-backed nursery at Altrincham C of E Primary School, for grassroots football clubs including Altrincham Juniors and Timperley FC, for Village Surgery in Timperley and for local schools including Loretto, Wellington and Stamford Park Primary. He has successfully worked to deliver better bus services to Dunham Massey, Warburton and Bowdon, led efforts that saw post office services saved in Ashton village, campaigned against rip-off management fees and service charges for leasehold properties and welcomed a new skin cancer diagnostics centre to Altrincham hospital.
In Parliament, Connor has raised a large number of local issues, including NHS investment and Altrincham and Wythenshawe hospitals, investment in the Bee Network and public transport, Altrincham Football Club’s community work and the 3UP campaign, pollution in Sinderland Brook, the Bollin and other local rivers and streams, support for Hong Kongers who have fled Chinese repression and returning the Cresta Court and Ashley hotels to their normal use as part of fixing our broken immigration and asylum system. He has also spoken on issues such as mental health support and palliative care, parental leave, tackling child poverty, support for Ukraine, housing for veterans and the importance of rebuilding relationships with European allies post-Brexit.
Since autumn 2025 he has served as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Ed Miliband in the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, to help drive the Government’s agenda to invest in home-grown clean energy, to deliver energy independence, good jobs and to tackle climate change. Prior to this, he was a Member of the Home Affairs Select Committee and Chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Parents and the APPG for Customer Service.
Connor holds weekly surgeries for residents to speak to him and coffee mornings in different parts of the constituency each month and has visited many local community groups, schools and small businesses across the area.
