Simon Thomas-Flixton Ward

Hello, I am Simon Thomas. I am pleased to have been selected as your Labour Party Candidate for Flixton Ward in the upcoming elections on 5th May 2016.

I am a lifelong resident of Flixton and Urmston, and proud of the area I grew up in. I have lived on Woodsend Road for the last 23 years. I am married to Michelle, and have two grown up daughters, Kirsty and Alicia.

Flixton is important to me because the community is part of the foundation of me as a person. I attended Flixton Primary School before moving on to Urmston Grammar School for Boys. I used all the facilities we had in those days, like Flixton Youth Club and Davyhulme Youth Club. I believe that the youth services I had should be available in some form to the children of today.

My pride in the area led me to become a parent governor at the schools my children attended. As Chair of Governors at Woodsend School I fought the Council's decision to close it.

It is that commitment to providing the best possible for the area that has driven me to be your candidate. I want to gain this seat for the Labour Party that I have supported all my life. I want to bring back the community spirit I enjoyed to Flixton. With the support of Trafford residents, we can and must regenerate community cohesion across the borough.

I look forward to serving the residents of Flixton. With your support and vote I will work hard to bring that respect and community spirit back to Flixton.

Let’s all, together, secure a brighter local area and keep a positive outlook for the future of our wonderful town.

Please Vote Labour on the 5th May 2016
