Whit Stennett M.B.E.-Clifford Ward

Whit Stennett M.B.E.
I am proud to be standing once again as your Labour candidate in the May 2016 Trafford Council elections. I have been your local councillor in Clifford Ward since 1993. I am always grateful for the trust you have shown me, and the support you have given me. I believe it is my duty to repay that trust and support by working hard for you.

I always make myself approachable and available to residents through our many local community groups and churches, especially when paying respects at funerals or in our community celebrations. My love for cricket and music is also a strong part of the Old Trafford scene.

I work with my Labour colleagues, residents and Trafford Council in dealing with the ongoing problem of fly-tipping and rubbish across the Ward. I admire and support the ‘Love Old Trafford’ Group in their voluntary cleaning of areas and planting of trees and flowers. I am also involved in regular liaison with the police, and this has helped towards a better understanding between sections of the community and our police force.

The austerity cuts from this Conservative government and local council are very damaging to our community. We know that budget savings need to happen, and budgets need to be managed carefully. But I believe that you must consult properly with local communities, prioritise and protect services that are crucial to their well being, and not cause damage to the special relationship between residents and the Council that is here to serve them.

If you ever want to get in touch, just ring me on 860 6733. Please, make sure you are registered to vote, and Vote Labour on 5 May 2016.
