Mike Freeman-Sale Moor Ward

After a 30 year career with Greater Manchester Police, I joined the Labour Party and was first selected to stand in Sale Moor Ward in 2012, winning the Council seat from the Conservatives.

As your Local Labour Councillor, I believe it is essential that I represent the views of all residents irrespective of political divide. In particular ensuring our more vulnerable residents have their voices heard by the Council.

I firmly believe that residents who organise together have a stronger collective voice. In furtherance of this, I actively support local community groups in Sale Moor wherever possible. I believe it is extremely important to scrutinise the policies of the Tory controlled Council in Trafford, and challenge and question them at every opportunity.

I am the Trafford Labour Group Chief Whip, Opposition Spokesperson for Licensing and Public Protection, and a member of the Council's Licensing Committee, Public Protection Sub Committee and Standards Committee.

I am a Governor of Springfield Primary School in Sale, and a Trustee of Keele University Students Union in North Staffordshire. In addition I work on an individual basis with local residents helping resolve a wide range of issues from planning applications to welfare matters.

I am married to Michelle, live in Sale, and have two grown up children and two grandchildren. Thank you to the people of Sale Moor for your support over recent years. I will continue to work hard for you, and hope that you will consider voting for me once again in May 2016.
