Hello, I am Barbara Twiney, and I am delighted to be your Labour candidate for Hale Barns Ward in the Trafford Local Council Elections on 5 May 2016.
I have lived in the Timperley end of Hale Barns Ward for 35 years. Our two grown-up children attended local schools. I was a school governor for many years and have been on the Area Committee of the Co-op for 6 years.
I am also a retired Local Authority social worker, having worked mainly with older people. This has made me very aware of how resources for older people, including Day Centres, Libraries and especially Home Care services, have been drastically cut by Trafford’s Conservative council. This leaves older people more isolated and often unable to get the help they need to stay in their own homes.
If elected I would work hard to retain the services that are so needed by those who need help to live safely and independently.
Please Vote Labour on 5 May 2016.
