Hello, my name is Amy Whyte.
I am honoured to be the Labour candidate for Altrincham ward, standing in the Trafford Council elections of May 2016.
I have lived in and around Altrincham all of my life, with my home now in Broadheath with my husband and our 3 children. I know from talking to residents that there is much more to do to improve our quality of life in Altrincham.
The austerity cuts from this Conservative Government and Council are hitting many in our community hard. The budgets have to be managed well, but should not always hit the most vulnerable.
My experience in campaigning in the community is strong. I led a successful campaign to save our school crossing patrol, and I will continue to fight against cuts to vital public services on behalf of residents. I am energetic, enthusiastic and enjoy galvanising communities in this way.
I will focus on maintaining services such as the library and the leisure centre, and welcome residents' views and input on the issues important to them.
I work in a local school as a Teaching Assistant, having previously run a Slimming group for 2 years in Altrincham town centre.
I also work closely with a local charity, FOP Friends, in their fundraising activities. I was honoured when my charity work led me to be named one of the 40 faces of Trafford in 2014.
I am keen to work closely with Altrincham residents to help them get the best from this historic town with so much potential.
Please vote Labour on 5 May 2016.
