I’m Tony O’Brien, your Labour Candidate for Village ward, for the Trafford Council Local Elections in 2016.
I live at the heart of Village ward and have a real passion and commitment to keeping it a great place to live. I'm an active member of the community and am frequently out and about talking to residents about issues in the area.
I work as a Service Development Manager in social housing and have been a housing professional for over 20 years.
This Tory Council works hand in hand with the Tory Government, implementing damaging cuts to services, threatening our way of life in Village ward.
Every day, around the ward, as well as in my daily work, I see the consequences of the Tories' cuts. Families, working hard to make a living and secure a future for their children are thwarted by savage cuts to Working Families and Child Tax Credits.
Our young people, excluded from home ownership, are forced to pay ever higher private rents - whilst the Conservative’s unfair Bedroom Tax continues to hit the most vulnerable in our community.
In our Village centre, the Tory Council is presiding over a parking fiasco – with too few spaces to service the increased traffic. Meanwhile, the Library faces temporary closure and downgrading - along with the closure of its car park.
On 5th May 2016, show that you want change. Village needs a Labour Councillor to stand up for the area. It’s time for a new voice in Village ward.
